A new Zoom connector has also been added, allowing meeting summaries and action items to flow directly into Claude Cowork. Admins can now restrict specific actions within connectors as well, such as disabling write permissions.
Claude Cowork is the non-developer counterpart to Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI tool that has become popular among programmers. According to the company, knowledge workers in marketing, finance, and legal teams are using the assistant for tasks such as project reports, presentations, and research. Compared with Claude’s web chat, Cowork mainly stands out by being able to access files directly from a user’s local hard drive. The desktop app is available through claude.com/download.
Like all agentic AI systems, Claude Cowork also introduces new potential entry points for cyberattacks.
Anthropic partner Microsoft has adapted the Cowork technology for Microsoft Copilot. A version of the software is currently being tested and is expected to roll out more broadly soon.
Anthropic is positioning Claude Cowork as a serious enterprise productivity layer, not just a chat interface for office tasks. The key shift is the combination of local file access, admin controls, and connector governance, which moves the product closer to a managed workplace operating tool than a simple AI assistant.
