OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger confirmed on X that any discussion of cryptocurrencies is grounds for removal from the server. The trigger was a case in which a user casually mentioned Bitcoin and was immediately banned. Steinberger referred to the community rules, explaining:

CLASHD27 is a multi-agent benchmark in which Bitcoin block height is determined only by time (mod 27). Tokens are not used. X

“We have strict server rules that you agree to when joining the server. One of them is a complete ban on any mention of cryptocurrencies.”

The reason for this hardline stance was an incident in January. During the project’s rebranding, scammers hijacked OpenClaw’s old social media accounts and began promoting a Solana token called $CLAWD. Within a few hours, its market capitalization reached approximately $16 million.

After Steinberger publicly stated that he was not involved, the token crashed by more than 90%. At the time, he wrote:

“I will never launch a cryptocurrency. Any project that lists me as the owner of a crypto token is a scam.”

OpenClaw, previously known as Moltbot or Clawdbot, is an open, self-hosted AI agent. It is voice-controlled and capable of performing real actions: opening websites, working with APIs, reading and writing files, and executing scheduled tasks.
